Fair Trade

Africa offers a rich range of high quality levelled artistic products which still just a little end up in Western shops.

African producers have built large skills in the production of traditional products made from nature products such as herbal soap (a fantastic product of medicinal value), textiles (such as the famous Kenyan Kikoy), jewellery and Paintings traditional and Tingatinga Style and other fashion accessories.

Many African products are made of organic material that is readily available and easily accessible, what makes them pre-eminently interesting for their ecological aspects. At the same time it is impossible for many small crafts producers  to obtain an official european bio-product or fair trade certificate to enable them sell in the abroad markets that can aid in their growth booth socially and economically.

African crafts producers bring about a huge urge and feeling for design. As crafts are mostly produced by poor people, mostly woman in the interor of Africa, they can not afford excesssive labour and have to do it on their own with little help from their acquintances  who might be talented in various areas of the same field of fashion production. For them, this sale of their products is litteral of vital importance in their day to day livehood. Until now, small producers can not afford to export. They have to do with the little they get from their regular customers and a few international tourists who can reach them in their enterior settings

Bantu African Arts buys directly at the producers, pays a fair price and concentrates on products which contribute also to ecological values. That way we help the producers to take a first step towards a better living standards as they have the opportunity of selling their products to European consumers and traders who in return are advised to buy in a fair pricing.
